That's why I love the idea of One Word 365. It's not about picking a few resolutions and giving up after a few months. It's about picking just one word and trying to live out the meaning of that word for the whole year. A single word can have so much power. It can inspire us towards change. It can set a foundation for a year of striving to be better, do better, live better.
Of course, there are so many words to choose from. My inclination was to pick an "easy" word. Something I knew wouldn't be too much of a challenge. But God placed a word on my heart that isn't comfortable. It isn't familiar. It isn't always going to be fun or easy. And I couldn't be more excited about it. My One Word for 2013 is...
For me, 2012 was a year where I learned a lot about trusting God. So many big changes happened in 2012 and so many of them were out of my control. I had to learn to put things in God's hands and accept them as they come. The last year was a huge learning experience and I do feel that I've improved when it comes to having faith that God is in control.
This year, I know I need to take it to the next level. Now that I have a firmer foundation in faith and trust in the Lord, I need to be active. I need to be bold. I need to take risks. I need to live out my faith. I need to reach out. I need to seek.
Seek wisdom.
Seek truth.
Seek opportunities.
Seek freedom.
Seek freedom.
Seek justice.
Seek God's will.

Throughout the next 12 months, I will be challenging myself to really learn what it means to seek in all areas of my life: marriage, career, family, friendships, and even blogging. I'll be updating this blog with my progress as my journey unfolds. Hopefully this blog will serve as a way to hold me accountable to the commitment I'm making.
Sometimes all it takes is one small word to make a big difference. I'm excited for this new year and I know that if I truly commit to it, my One Word can have a radical impact in 2013.
What about you? Do you have One Word that will inspire you this year? Share with me in the comments!

I love this. I truly do. It is crazy because a couple days ago I got a word for the year. It is "choose". Choose to trust. Choose to make better choices. Choose to love. Choose to believe. Choose Jesus...etc. Anyway, thank you for sharing this! Love you dearly.
