When my husband and I first started dating, he shared a confession: He didn't like museums. He thought they were "boring." I couldn't even believe what I was hearing! I am a museum nerd. I absolutely love them and to me, they are anything but boring. The art! The ambiance! The history! The low cost! What's not to love??
To me, museums are perfect for a day or evening date for the following reasons:
- They are cheap. Most museums you can get in for free if you go on the right day or the right time. If they're not free, they are usually pretty cheap and at least you are supporting the advancement of the arts. Um, sexy!
- You are surrounded by beautiful things (and tons of photo opportunities).
- There are an endless amount of conversation topics that allow you to go beneath the surface. Woo your boo with your charming intellect!
- It's a low-key, but classy environment with a definite element of romance.

What do you think of museum dates? Do you love them or did it take some time to win you over? Let me know in the comments!
And be sure to head on over to bedsidesign where my pal Christie has another great date idea!

I've never been on a "museum date", but I extremely LOVE museums. I usually go alone or with a friend that knows art. Never with my boyfriend, but I think I should try it out.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is not a museum person either, but because he knows I love them, he surprised me by taking me to LACMA as part of our anniversary celebration last year... AND he agreed to go to more museums with me in the future! :P
ReplyDeleteThe museums in Balboa Park (down here in SD) are kind of hit and miss. The museum of man is very limited, but I really, really like the art museum. My -favorite- museum in all of SoCal has got to be the Norton Simon in Pasadena! I got so excited when I saw the floats go by the exterior during the New Year's Day parade (nerd alert!) The Getty is breathtaking, too.
ReplyDeleteI love LACMA! It's so beautiful! You've got a good man :)
ReplyDeleteYou TOTALLY should. It can be more romantic than you'd think! My husband was hesitant at first, but now we really enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteI feel like I enjoy the nature part of Balboa Park more than the museums. I think the grounds are amazing just on their own!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to the Norton Simon since my freshman year of college! I remember liking it but the details are fuzzy. That might just be the next museum date I take my husband on!
I love museum dates! Have you been to the Getty Villa? I love that one because even if you're not a museum person the view is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYes, I just went to the Getty Villa for the first time earlier this year! It is stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI love museums! And luckily Alan does too. There are a few in Salt Lake, but we haven't ventured over to see them yet. Good idea for a date!
ReplyDeleteHa! Nice one. Just your husbands smile makes me want to be a friend of his.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. He's a nice guy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Well the next date night now you guys have an idea :)
