macy's heart of haiti | holiday stars + giveaway! [updated]

Thank you to Macy’s Heart of Haiti for providing a product to inspire this post about the stars in my life.

Who are the stars in your life this holiday season? Mine are my two best friends in the whole world -- otherwise known as my two little sisters. OK, they aren't so little. They are both adults in their twenties, but they will always be my little sisters in my mind.

The holidays have always been a special time of year for my family. Growing up, it was just the five of us: my parents, me, and my sisters. We don't live near any extended family so holidays are small, but always special. We have our own quirky little Christmas traditions that I look forward to every year, even though we are all grown up. But no matter how old we get, there is still something so magical about Christmas morning with my family.

Things have changed a lot since we were younger. I'm married and so we added another person to our close-knit circle (don't worry, my husband fits right in!). And while my husband and I live less than two hours away from my parents, both of my sisters live on the East Coast and have been for years. It was so hard when they first moved away. We are more than just sisters; we are close friends. So when the holidays roll around and my sisters come back into town, it is extra special because I cherish the time that I have with them. We usually don't see both of them for Easter or even Thanksgiving, so Christmas is the one time of year where I know they will be there and our whole family will be together.

It is incredible to see my sisters grow up into such wonderful people. I couldn't be more proud of all they have accomplished in life and how they inspire the people around them. They are two of the best people I know and I'm honored to be their older sister. This holiday season, they are only in town for two short weeks. But every time they come back into town, it feels like they never left. And I know that over the years, we will never fail to create fun holiday memories together.

Thanks to Macy's Heart of Haiti line, I have two beautiful star ornaments that were handmade in Haiti and are perfect for the holiday season. But it's better to give than receive, right? So I've decided to play Santa Claus this Christmas and give away one of these stunning stars (pictured above) to one of my readers!
